Explore
After meeting with Keith, the point person for Harrisburg Un, we walked through the Philadelphia campus together and spoke about objectives. One, was to blend brand identity, the existing building interior, and adding Philly flair.
Research
After diving into the branding guide and researching the University’s main campus in Harrisburg, PA through photos and videos, I began gathering photos, textures, treatments, and type designs that interested me.
Methodology
All of these elements came together in a mix of 3 categories; Philadelphia-specific imagery (liberty bell, Rocky Statue, Mummers, etc.), brand specific imagery (labs, Students and Professors, science and technology equipment, etc.), and binary code expressions designed from brand identity language (quotes, fields of study, mission goals).
Create
My accepted proposal included full-wall collages with a mix of location-specific imagery and binary-code text arrays. These would be printed on white vinyl for easy installation throughout the hallways and classroom of the campus. I used color gradients for a mix of varying looks and binary-code incorporated throughout that if read left to right is accurate with its text phrase, quote, or field of study companion.
Technical
Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Large-scale vinyl printing
Outcome
This was a well received addition to the campus and boosted student and staff school spirit. It blended perfectly with the industrial look of the building while warming the hallways and classrooms with smiling faces and regional touchstones.
